Jacopo Fo Unveils AI-Created Pop Opera “Pipì, Pupù, Papà”

It’s a kind of surreal, tender, and ironic pop opera — the title of the new song by Jacopo Fo, written by him but created with the help of artificial intelligence, CE Report quotes ANSA.

Titled "Pipì, Pupù, Papà", the song is the result of a creative experiment conducted with Federica Nardi, a young AI expert from the Marche region. The result is a fun and provocative track in which Fo’s voice is completely reconstructed and transformed.

The music video, also generated by AI, features a series of virtual children. The song — soon to be available on major streaming platforms, which met with Fo at his historic residence in Umbria, at the Libera Università di Alcatraz, a pioneering project of ecology, art, and shared culture that he founded in the 1970s.

In the heart of this symbolic place, surrounded by woods and old rural houses, Fo explained the song’s origin: inspired by the birth of a baby, it was created from a voice recording and dozens of versions generated by AI, eventually blended into a single musical track. The AI-generated video featuring virtual children required careful prompt design to avoid ethical risks or ambiguity.

“AI is just a tool. You need to bring the real intelligence. This song is also a playful project, but behind it is a message about the ongoing cultural revolution — that of fathers who change diapers and care for newborns,” Fo said.
