Taylor Swift fans mark Vienna terror threat anniversary with unity event
Hundreds of Taylor Swift fans gathered today in Vienna, one year after the terrorism alert that accompanied the planned concerts of the American star in the Austrian capital.
The fans sang together, exchanged friendship bracelets, and unveiled a memorial plaque promoting friendship and condemning hatred, CE Report quotes ATA.
The gathering took place on “Corneliusgasse” street, whose name is linked to Swift’s song “Cornelia Street.”
Fear of an imminent attack forced organizers to cancel three of Swift’s concerts in Vienna in August 2024.
A year ago, “Corneliusgasse” became a meeting point for many fans who had traveled to the city for the concerts and continued to celebrate despite the event cancellations.
“The memorial plaque serves as a reminder that hatred has no place here, and we will not allow terror and hatred to take away the joy of music and life,” said the organizer of the fan club, Lex Dimitrijevic.
Swift had planned to perform before 65,000 fans at the “Ernst Happel” stadium on August 8, 9, and 10 as part of her “Eras” tour.
Shortly before the first concert, a suspect and his collaborators were arrested.
The main suspect, now 20 years old, was planning an Islamist terrorist attack on the concert.
