Clay Magic Exhibition Opens in Sofia
More than 90 artists are taking part in the final exhibition of the Clay Magic – Traditions in Bulgarian Ceramics project, now on view at Art Gallery 158 in Sofia until June 15, CE Report quotes BTA
The show features over 250 works inspired by traditional ceramics from Troyan, Veliko Tarnovo, and Busintsi. Led by artist and researcher Marta Dimitrova, the project aimed to explore and reinterpret Bulgaria’s ceramic heritage through both education and artistic creation.
Held from February to April 2025 across Sofia, Blagoevgrad, and Lovech, the initiative was supported by the National Culture Fund. Participants learned traditional techniques such as sgraffito and relief decoration.
“Ceramics is a cultural language,” said Dimitrova. “Tradition is not preserved in silence—it’s retold and passed on.”
