Avalanche risk increases in Bulgarian mountains
Avalanche risk in Bulgarian mountains has increased due to high temperatures, the Mountain Rescue Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross warned on Tuesday.
In most areas, skies are partly cloudy, with moderate winds in the higher mountain regions, CE Report quotes BTA.
Skiing conditions are available at all winter resorts, and the lift facilities are operational, the MRS added.
According to the forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), the mountains will be cloudy. In the afternoon, rainfall is expected, which at altitudes above 1,400–1,600 metres will turn to snow. Strong north-west winds will blow, becoming temporarily gale-force in the higher areas. Maximum temperatures are forecast to be around 6 C at 1,200 metres and around −1 C at 2,000 metres.
