Business

Starting October 26, 2025, passengers from Moldova will be able to fly directly to Sofia, Bulgaria, with the launch of the first and only direct route between the two countries. The flights will operate four times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays—via Eugen Doga International Airport, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Natalia Cojocaru, spokesperson for the airport, said the new route will boost tourism, business ties, and cooperation between Moldova and Bulgaria, adding that expanding the airport’s route network remains a priority.

Wizz Air’s corporate communications manager, Anastasia Novak, said the airline aims to provide Moldovan travelers with efficient and comfortable flight options, linking key European destinations.

Sofia offers visitors a mix of historic charm and vibrant urban life, along with access to Bulgaria’s mountains and Black Sea resorts—longtime favorites for Moldovan summer vacations.

Eugen Doga International Airport, now under state management since 2023, continues to modernize and expand. It’s among the top-performing airports in Europe in its passenger category, with the number of airlines growing from 20 in 2022 to 33 by 2024.
