A new Independent Authority will launch in 2026 to coordinate market oversight and combat profiteering, according to Secretary General of Commerce Sotiris Anagnostopoulos. The Authority will consolidate existing control bodies, improving efficiency and response times. It will also introduce digital tools like complaint apps to collect evidence and enable rapid action without on-site inspections. The Authority will have the power to impose fines and increase oversight in tourist areas, addressing issues such as overcharging in taxis and other services, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian
