New Supermarket Code of Conduct on Discounts Takes Effect in March

A new supermarket code of conduct on discounts and offers will come into effect in Greece this March, aligning with a European directive adopted by most EU countries, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

According to Apostolos Petalas, General Director of the Hellenic Super Market Association, the new regulations aim to make discount pricing clearer for consumers by ensuring that all offers reference a standard price.

Following months of consultation with supermarkets, the food industry, and multinational companies, Greece’s Ministry of Development has finalized the guidelines. A ten-day familiarization period will precede the official enforcement, with intensive checks beginning on Monday, March 17, to ensure compliance.
