OECD's Pereira notes Romania's energy and dynamism, eagerness for reforms

Chief Economist and G20 Finance Deputy ad interim of the OECD Alvaro Santos Pereira, in Bucharest on Wednesday, noted Romania's "energy and dynamism" and "eagerness for reform". Cereport reports citing Agerpres

The remarks were made on the occasion of the launch of the establishment project of the National Council for Productivity in Romania, an event also attended by prime minister Nicolae Ciuca.

According to Alvaro Santos Pereira, Romania has changed "dramatically" in recent decades, being a country that "accelerates its transformations, becomes increasingly modern and becomes a central point" in Europe. He congratulated the Romanian government and citizens for their "commitment" to implementing reforms.

He stressed the importance of setting up a Productivity Council, saying that improving productivity, both in terms of quality and quantity, is necessary to increase incomes and living standards.
