For the third year in a row, Bulgaria has sent resources to combat wildfires in Greece, highlighting its commitment to the EU's civil protection mechanism. "Solidarity in emergencies is crucial, not only within the EU but beyond," Mitov stated, recalling the international aid Bulgaria received during severe forest fires.

He acknowledged support from France, Spain, and Turkiye, emphasizing ongoing efforts to equip firefighters with necessary resources. Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov noted that 2023 was operationally challenging and praised the contributions of the air force, ground troops, and volunteers.
