Albanian pensioners to get New Year bonus

The government approved the decision on the pensioners' New Year bonus, determining the benefit amount, the beneficiary categories and the necessary financial fund for its implementation.

According to the decision, the pensioners and several other categories of beneficiaries will receive a bonus of 15,000 lekë or 10,000 lekë, depending on the level of pension or financial treatment they receive, CE Report quotes ATA.

Thus, the pensioners who receive a pension of up to 20,000 lekë will receive a bonus of 15,000 lekë. Also, those who receive disability pensions, family pensions, social pensions, special financial treatments, children in the care of the Republic, War veterans, beneficiaries of special pensions and employees who have worked in sectors with difficult working conditions will also receive 15,000 lekë bonus if their pension amounts to 20,000 lekë.

While the people who receive a pension or special financial treatment above 20,000 lekë, as well as to beneficiaries of supplementary or special state pensions, will receive a bonus of 10,000 lekë.

The government has already approved the necessary fund worth 10.4 billion lekë.

The bonus will be provided to the pensioners in December 2025 and it will be available until June 30, 2026, while after this date, unclaimed benefits will be statute-barred.

The Social Security Institute, the Albanian Post Office and commercial banks will administer the process of distributing funds, according to the usual pension payment procedures.
