Zelensky Thanks New Zealand for Ongoing Support

War in Ukraine

On the sidelines of the NATO Summit in The Hague, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon to discuss investment in Ukraine’s military equipment production.

The relevant statement was made by the Head of State on Telegram, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

"I met with Prime Minister of New Zealand Christopher Luxon. We appreciate New Zealand’s solidarity with our people since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. We appreciate all of the humanitarian and military support, including the new aid package," Zelensky wrote.

The parties discussed investments in Ukraine’s military equipment production, as well as an initiative to counter Iranian ‘Shahed’ drones used by Russia to attack Ukrainian cities.

"We agree that only strong, coordinated actions and tough sanctions against all sectors of the economy that allow Russia to fund its war machine will stop Russian aggression," Zelensky added.

A reminder that, on June 19, 2025, the Government of New Zealand announced new restrictions against Russian and Belarusian companies and citizens, and also added four citizens of the DPRK and two of Iran, involved in supporting Russia’s war against Ukraine, to the sanctions list.

Since March 2022, New Zealand had imposed restrictions against Russian entities and individuals and foreign legal entities and persons more than 35 times for participating in or supporting Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.
