Albania’s Shala River becomes must-see destination in the Balkans
The Shala River in Albania, which flows into Lake Koman, attracts a growing number of local and international tourists every year, thanks to the natural beauty of the area.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage today on social media from the Shala River in Shkodër, where, as he noted, tourists enjoy one of the most magical holiday experiences in Albania, CE Report quotes ATA.
At this extraordinary tourism attraction in northern Albania, visitors choose to explore the area by boat, hike to nearby peaks with spectacular views, swim in the refreshing waters of the Shala River, and enjoy traditional food offered at guesthouses set up along the river.
The Shala River originates at the foot of the Alps and stretches for 37 km from its source at the peak of Radohina to the Drin River. It is known for its unique deep blue water.
The river is rich in various fish species, with trout being the most common, which grows only in freshwater. The cold, blue-colored water and the towering cliffs that surround the river—seemingly touching the sky—are signature features of the Shala River.
