Argentine football star Lionel Messi has long been known for his charitable work, and he has once again demonstrated his willingness to help.

In recent days, as wildfires devastated large parts of Western Europe, including the Sierra Oeste de Madrid region near the Spanish capital, Madrid, Messi donated nearly €90,000 to support the area's recovery, CE Report quotes STA.

"I want to thank him and tell him that the people of Madrid hope to welcome him soon and give him the applause he truly deserves," said the President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, revealing the footballer's generous contribution.

The region west of the Spanish capital was severely affected by the wildfires, which caused extensive damage to land and property and forced many residents to evacuate their homes.

Messi also founded the Leo Messi Foundation in 2007, which supports children and young people through healthcare, education, and sports programs.
