North Macedonian tennis star misses quarterfinals in Porto

North Macedonian tennis player Lina Gjorcheska failed to reach the quarterfinals of the ITF Futures tournament from the 75 series in Porto, which is being played for a prize fund of $60,000, after losing in the second round to Turkey’s Ayla Aksu in straight sets (7–5, 6–2).

The first set was a tight battle with several momentum shifts, CE Report quotes MIA.

The North Macedonian player took a 5–4 lead in games and was serving in the tenth game, but her opponent won the next three games.

In the second set, after a long and hard-fought third game that featured 22 points, Aksu moved ahead 2–1 and allowed Gjorcheska only one more game for the rest of the match.

Gjorcheska will remain in Porto, where she will compete next week in another ITF Futures tournament from the 50 series in the Portuguese city.
