Australian Open: Sinner faces Shelton with potential Djokovic clash ahead

The second seed at the Australian Open, Italy’s Jannik Sinner, is facing a new challenge as he will play American Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals.

However, much of the attention is already focused on a potential semifinal against Novak Djokovic, who will also be in action against Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, CE Report quotes MIA.

Djokovic did not play his round-of-16 match after his opponent, Jakub Musetti, was forced to retire due to injury.

“I don’t think anything has changed. I know a tough match awaits me against Shelton. My focus will be on that, and if I manage to reach the semifinals, I’ll be happy,” Jannik Sinner said.

A potential Djokovic–Sinner semifinal is a match everyone is anticipating, and Sinner believes that Djokovic’s missed round-of-16 match could be an issue and might “take him out of rhythm.”
