Slovenian basketball star welcomes second child
Slovenian basketball superstar Luka Dončić and his fiancée Anamaria Goltes have welcomed their second daughter, whom they named Olivia.
The couple's firstborn, Gabriela, turned two at the end of November, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.
Dončić confirmed the news on Instagram, posting a photo of Olivia. He covered the newborn's face with a heart emoji to protect her privacy - a habit he and Goltes are known for on social media.
Goltes, 27, posted an Instagram story in mid-November revealing that her hospital "mommy" bag was fully packed for the arrival of their second child.
While Gabriela was born in Dallas, US, where the NBA star was at the time playing for the Mavericks, Goltes gave birth to Olivia in Slovenia.
Dončić, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in a bombshell move in February, missed his team's last two games, citing personal reasons. He travelled to Slovenia to be there for the birth of his second child.
He was spotted in one of the Ljubljana restaurants celebrating the arrival of another daughter with his family and friends, but media report that he has since already headed back to LA.
It is unclear when Dončić, 26, will return to the court. The Lakers have an away game scheduled in Philadelphia on 7 December local time, and it is possible he will play there.
The basketball star reportedly met Goltes, who is a model, at the age of 12 while on holiday with his family in Croatia. The childhood sweethearts became engaged in 2023.
Since welcoming their first child, Dončić, who has been playing at an MVP level this season, has said multiple times that fatherhood has been the best thing that has happened to him.
Since the trade he has settled well in LA and and has become the face of the Lakers franchise. In summer he pledged his allegiance to his new team, signing a $165 million maximum extension contract through 2028.
