Lionel Messi will continue his adventure in the United States for several more years.

According to reports from ESPN, the Argentine star has extended his contract with Inter Miami until the end of the 2028 season, putting an end to all speculation about a possible departure, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The new deal is the result of months-long negotiations between Messi’s representatives and the American club’s management, who see the 37-year-old as the central figure in both their sporting and commercial project.

According to ESPN, Inter Miami wanted to reward Messi not only for his impact on the pitch but also for his extraordinary role in boosting the global popularity of Major League Soccer (MLS). Since his arrival in the summer of 2023, TV viewership, ticket sales, and league marketing have all seen massive growth.

Messi, who won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022, has been the undisputed leader of Inter Miami, helping the team win its first-ever trophy — the Leagues Cup — and compete for top spots in MLS.

With this renewal, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to stay in the United States until the age of 41, aiming to end his career at a high level and finish it wearing the jersey of David Beckham’s co-owned club.
