Plovdiv seeks EU backing in 2028 sports capital campaign
Plovdiv will apply to become the European Capital of Sport in 2028, Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov said, CE Report quotes BTA.
“Since we have some of the best sports facilities in the country, let’s make sure to promote our city with even more events,” Dimitrov said.
He explained that the decision followed consultations with representatives of the European Parliament and noted that support will also be sought from the Education Department.
According to him, shared goals and areas of cooperation are essential to boosting the popularity of mass sport.
