Barcelona president Joan Laporta has praised PSG as one of the two strongest and most exciting teams to watch last season — alongside Barcelona. He expressed his desire for the two giants to face off this season to determine “who is truly the best,” CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

“I think two teams, including PSG, did very well last season. They won the Champions League, won the French championship, and played beautiful football with a great coach, excellent players, and a fantastic team. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to play against them, but it’s a match the football world is still waiting for. I believe we were the two most competitive and in-form teams last season. I hope we meet this season to see who’s the best — with full respect for all other clubs, as another team may also emerge playing beautiful football,” Laporta told CNN.

“In football terms, everyone who loves this sport saw that Barcelona and PSG were the most in-form teams and played the best football in the world. But unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to face them in the Champions League final. I hope that with UEFA’s new Champions League format, we’ll have that opportunity next season,” he added.

Laporta also congratulated UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin for the new Champions League format:

“I congratulate Aleksander Čeferin as UEFA president because he has created a format that improves the competition. Čeferin is a capable man who understands football, and I believe he enjoys this competition as well.”
