Albania is set to face Serbia on June 7 at the “Air Albania” Stadium in a crucial match for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The team began official preparations on Monday, and now coach Sylvinho has the full squad at his disposal, CE Report quotes ATA.

Midfielder of the Albanian national team, Arbër Hoxha, spoke at the official press conference about the upcoming match, emphasizing that the opponent is of a high difficulty level.

However, he stated that the team will enter the field to give their maximum and aim for the three points.

“It will be a difficult match; we know the opponent has a lot of quality. We will give our maximum. We’re preparing well and working hard, and we hope and believe we can win the match,” he said.

Regarding the pressure surrounding this match, he said the players are professionals.

“We are professionals; we will do our job on the field. Of course, it’s an emotional match, no doubt. But we are professionals and will do our best on the pitch,” Hoxha stated.

He was asked how much he believes in World Cup qualification.

“This is a difficult match and I believe it will determine a potential ‘play-off’ spot for the World Cup. We hope to win the match and keep our World Cup dream alive,” said Hoxha.

On the internal competition within the squad, Hoxha said, “Competition makes you stronger. We are in the National Team; no matter how many minutes we get, we will give our best. We will give our maximum.”

Regarding the Serbia match in 2014, he said:

“I was young back then and I watched that match. It was very emotional, not just for me but for all Albanians. Hysaj still tells us stories about it. We must enter the field and do our best to win the match.”

Hoxha later added that he would gladly accept beating Serbia and losing to Latvia.
