Romania Set for South American Rugby Tour in July
The Romanian national rugby team will play three warm-up matches this July in South America, facing Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina XV as part of the World Rugby summer tournament, the Romanian Rugby Federation announced, CE Report quotes Agerpres
The tour kicks off on July 5 against Chile in Santiago, followed by a clash with Uruguay on July 12 in Montevideo, and wraps up on July 18 against Argentina XV in Buenos Aires.
Already qualified for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, Romania (ranked 20th globally) will begin the series against 21st-ranked Chile—a team they’ve defeated in both previous encounters. Their second match is against Uruguay (17th), a familiar and tough opponent, with Romania holding a historical edge of 9 wins from 14 matches. The tour ends with a meeting against Argentina’s second team, with whom Romania has shared a competitive history in past Nations Cup editions.
Last summer, Romania played in North America, facing the USA and Canada.
