Trump: Putin-Zelenskyy Meeting "Will Happen"
U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy “will happen,” though he criticized the delay, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
“It should have happened three months ago,” Trump told reporters before departing for Scotland.
Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced plans to mediate talks between Trump and Putin in Istanbul, as part of broader efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“We will strive to bring these leaders together,” Erdogan said after Friday prayers.
Moscow and Kyiv recently held a third round of negotiations in Istanbul, during which Kyiv proposed a leaders' summit by late August. The Kremlin insists a Putin-Zelenskyy meeting can only happen to finalize a peace agreement.
