Turkish FM Calls for Immediate Peace Talks in Russia-Ukraine War

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan urged for an immediate comprehensive peace process in the Russia-Ukraine War, emphasizing the need for both parties' participation. Speaking at the 27th MIKTA Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, Fidan reiterated Türkiye's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Highlighting global crises, including conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, Fidan stressed the urgent need for enhanced multilateral cooperation. He reaffirmed Türkiye's commitment to diplomatic efforts for a lasting peace, stating that Türkiye is ready to support negotiations.

On Gaza, Fidan acknowledged the ceasefire’s temporary relief but criticized Israel's restrictions on humanitarian aid. He called for further progress towards a two-state solution and emphasized the collective responsibility to address humanitarian needs in Syria, Gaza, and beyond.

Fidan also underscored Türkiye’s dedication to strengthening cooperation within MIKTA and deepening bilateral relations with its members.
