Louis Vuitton celebrates monogram anniversary with new jewelry line
On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Louis Vuitton’s Monogram canvas, the maison draws inspiration from its iconic motif with the Color Blossom high jewelry line.
Celebrating the Monogram flowers, this emblematic collection introduces a new gemstone color: sodalite, also known as the “salt stone,” featuring a captivating navy blue shade that is rarely seen in jewelry today, while also unveiling new pavé designs, CE Report quotes ANSA.
In total, 28 new pieces enrich the Color Blossom collection, inviting wearers to mix, match, layer, and personalize their jewelry. First created in 1896 by Georges Vuitton as a tribute to his father, the Monogram draws from artistic influences and movements — including Neo-Gothic decoration and Japonisme — embodying a timeless cultural resonance.
As an iconic motif of the maison, it is no surprise that it has been reinterpreted many times over the past 130 years, inspiring numerous artists and collaborators, and appearing across the brand’s creations, from leather goods to ready-to-wear.
In 2015, the maison introduced Color Blossom, a versatile design inspired by colored stones, each meticulously carved in volume to enhance its beauty. Today, the range of stones includes soft pink and white mother-of-pearl, classic onyx, radiant carnelian, malachite, and amazonite.
Combining bright tones with delicate designs, each jewel — from rings and earrings to long necklaces and bracelets — expresses a playful elegance.
To ensure the highest quality and the most intense color, only selected sodalite is used in the collection. Like all Color Blossom gems, the raw stone undergoes a rigorous lapidary process to be sculpted and shaped into its characteristic rounded forms and distinctive volumes.
After careful selection, the raw stone is cut and inspected again before shaping begins. It is at this stage that the Monogram flowers come to life in three dimensions — a complex cutting and polishing process requiring exceptional craftsmanship to achieve perfect symmetry and light reflection, tailored to the unique properties of each hard stone.
The introduction of sodalite is celebrated with a dedicated selection of seven new pieces. These include two delicate pendant necklaces featuring star and sun motifs, joined by a long sautoir necklace. There is also a multi-motif bracelet combining a sodalite star and a pavé sun.
A more refined version features a single motif enhanced with a precious round brilliant-cut diamond. A simple star-shaped stud earring is added to the collection, while an open ring combining a sodalite star with a diamond completes the new launch.
