TAP announces December gas delivery figures

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG consortium has released updated natural gas flow nominations for its main interconnection points across Europe.

According to the latest data, the Kipoi interconnection point in Greece - where TAP connects with the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (TANAP) - is set to receive 349,029,291 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of natural gas on December 22 and 29,000,000 kWh on December 23, CE Report informs.

At the Komotini interconnection point, exit nominations for December 22 stand at 28,670,675 kWh, while the Nea Mesimvria point is expected to handle 40,330,301 kWh on the same day.

In Italy, TAP’s final delivery point at Melendugno has recorded exit nominations of 287,012,315 kWh for December 22 and 29,000,000 kWh for December 23.

As a critical component of the Southern Gas Corridor, TAP transports natural gas from Azerbaijan’s Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea directly to European markets. The pipeline plays a vital role in enhancing Europe’s energy security by diversifying supply routes and reducing dependence on a limited number of sources.

With an annual transport capacity of approximately 10 billion cubic meters (bcm), TAP is designed for scalability and has the technical capability to double its capacity to 20 bcm in the future. This potential expansion would support both regional energy resilience and the European Union’s broader decarbonization and energy transition goals.
