Presidential election in Croatia moves to January runoff

The first round of the presidential elections took place, and the current president, Zoran Milanović, emerged victorious but fell short of securing enough votes to avoid a second round.

With 99.67% of votes counted, the SPD candidate Zoran Milanović won 49.11%, or 793,808 votes, while the HDZ candidate Dragan Primorac garnered 19.37%, or 313,124 votes.

The race featured eight candidates, but six of them received less than 10% of the votes.
