A recent survey by the Podkrepa Confederation of Labour reveals that 94% of workers are unhappy with their salaries. Dissatisfaction is highest among those earning up to BGN 1,100 (98%) and BGN 2,500 (96%). Meanwhile, 57% of workers earning between BGN 2,500 and BGN 5,000 report being satisfied, and those making over BGN 5,000 are unanimously content, CE Report quotes BTA

The data shows that 91% of respondents earn a net income below BGN 2,500, with 24% classified as the "working poor." Additionally, 98% believe the minimum wage should exceed the living wage. The survey also highlights strong public support for tax reform, with 85% backing a tax-free minimum income and 99% favoring annual wage indexation.

In late January, Podkrepa urged a review of the minimum wage due to rising costs of basic goods and services. The union also called for the protection of jobs in the public sector and state-owned enterprises.
