Greece and Palestine Discuss Tourism Cooperation

Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni met on Monday with her Palestinian counterpart Hani Al-Hayek to discuss the impact of regional instability on tourism and explore avenues for cooperation, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonia

Al-Hayek, accompanied by Palestinian Ambassador Yussef Dorkhom and tourism sector representatives, emphasized the economic importance of tourism for Palestine, especially pilgrimage travel. He noted that 65% of Palestinian Christians work in the tourism industry.

He expressed interest in learning from Greece's successful tourism model to help rebuild the sector when conditions improve. Kefalogianni highlighted Greece’s focus on religious and pilgrimage tourism, and both sides agreed to collaborate on sharing tourism expertise.
