Ukrainian Citizen Rescued After Being Trapped in Mountain Stream

A 28-year-old Ukrainian citizen, who crossed into Romania through the Maramures Mountains and sought help, was found stuck in a mountain stream, according to Dan Benga, head of the Maramures County Public Mountain Rescue Service (SPJ), CE Report quotes Agerpres

The man was located alive after being trapped in the stream, unable to escape. Rescuers provided medical assistance, offering hot tea and food, and are preparing him for extraction. Once he reaches the base of the mountain, a medical team will conduct another evaluation before handing him over to the appropriate authorities for further procedures.

The rescue operation lasted over 12 hours in challenging conditions, with the mountain rescue team receiving assistance from a border police crew from Poienile de sub Munte.
