Youtube rejects Meta-style child safety deal

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan has rejected the idea of joining Meta’s multistate settlement over child safety, saying the video platform has already taken the necessary measures to protect young users.

The statement from YouTube came after Meta reached a historic $18 billion settlement with U.S. states following a lawsuit, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

Asked by CNN whether YouTube would reach similar agreements as part of the settlement, Mohan said the company had no such plans.

“We have been investing for a long time to make sure young people are safe on our platform. Going forward, what you can expect from YouTube is that we will continue to focus on these kinds of issues,” Mohan said.

Mohan emphasized that YouTube differs from Meta in terms of its content, saying that the company aims to provide content that people can watch in their living rooms.
