Youtube dominates internet traffic in Türkiye
YouTube accounted for more than 40% of internet traffic in Türkiye during the first quarter of the year, highlighting the country's growing preference for video content, according to the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK).
According to the BTK's Quarterly Electronic Communications Market Report, internet users in Türkiye spent a significant portion of their online time on social media platforms, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
The report found that YouTube was by far the most-used online platform during the first quarter, accounting for 40.6% of total internet traffic. Instagram ranked second with 16%.
The figures indicate that internet usage in Türkiye is heavily concentrated around video consumption.
In the streaming category, YouTube also dominated with 57.4% of traffic, followed by Instagram (17.4%), TikTok (5.6%), and Netflix (5.5%).
In the instant messaging category, Instagram was the most widely used platform, accounting for 58.5% of traffic. Facebook ranked second with 26.4%, followed by WhatsApp with 7.3% and Telegram with 6.2%.
The data suggests that users increasingly favor social media-based messaging platforms over traditional messaging services.
In the online gaming category, PlayStation led with 25.4% of traffic, followed by Steam (24.1%), PUBG (9.2%), and League of Legends (6.7%).
For internet voice calls (VoIP), WhatsApp was the clear leader, accounting for 61.2% of total traffic in the category.
