Elon Musk targets Wikipedia with AI-powered Grokiipedia

Tech & Science

Billionaire Elon Musk announced that he is developing a rival to Wikipedia through his artificial intelligence startup xAI, unveiling plans for a platform called Grokiipedia.

Musk, owner of the social media platform X, said the new service will be a “major improvement” compared to the online encyclopedia, whose entries are created and edited by volunteers, CE Report quotes ATA.

The billionaire has long accused Wikipedia of political bias, claiming that it reflects left-leaning viewpoints.

Musk himself has increasingly aligned with right-wing positions.

David Sacks, a Musk ally recently appointed by President Donald Trump as AI commissioner in his administration, criticized the use of Wikipedia content to train AI software shortly before Musk’s announcement.

The name Grokiipedia comes from xAI’s Grok chatbot, which Musk described as a “truth-seeking engine at the highest level.”

Grok, however, has sparked controversy in recent months for making antisemitic statements, which Musk’s company attributed to programming errors.
