Bernardo Silva set to leave Manchester City
After nine successful years, the journey of Bernardo Silva at Manchester City is coming to an end.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, the English club has confirmed that the Portuguese captain will leave this summer as a free agent, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Although Silva remains a key figure in Pep Guardiola’s lineup and is leading the team in its pursuit of a seventh Premier League title, assistant coach Pep Lijnders has stated that this will be his final season, calling on fans to give the club legend a proper farewell.
The main reason behind the 31-year-old’s departure appears to be his desire to return to Southern Europe, as he has admitted that he never fully adapted to life in England.
In a heartfelt statement, Silva said that if Manchester City were based in Lisbon, he would stay at the club until the age of 40, but his longing for his homeland and Mediterranean culture has ultimately prevailed.
Top clubs such as FC Barcelona and Juventus have shown strong interest in signing the Portuguese star, while a potential move to Major League Soccer cannot be ruled out.
