Cameron Norrie, Lorenzo Sonego lead strong start at ATP Metz

Britain’s Cameron Norrie and Italy’s Lorenzo Sonego both claimed victories on Monday in the first round of the ATP 250 tournament in Metz, France, which offers total prize money of €596,035.

Norrie, last year’s finalist, defeated French player Valentin Royer 6-3, 6-7 (2/7), 6-3, and will next face another Frenchman, Arthur Cazaux, in the round of 16, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

Sonego, the 2022 Metz champion, also needed three sets to overcome Britain’s Jan Choinski, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. In the next round, he will meet compatriot Flavio Cobolli, the No. 4 seed and this year’s Bucharest Open champion.
