Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that fake images of her created using artificial intelligence are circulating online, CE Report informs.

“Several fake images of me, generated with artificial intelligence and passed off as real by some overzealous opponents, have been circulating in recent days.

I must admit that whoever created them, at least in the attached example, has actually improved me quite a bit. But the fact remains that, in order to attack and spread falsehoods, people are now willing to use anything.

However, the issue goes beyond me. Deepfakes are a dangerous tool, because they can deceive, manipulate, and harm anyone. I can defend myself—many others cannot.

That is why one rule should always apply: verify before you believe, and think before you share. Because today it’s happening to me, tomorrow it could happen to anyone,” Meloni wrote on her Instagram account.
