Moldova stands with Ukraine amid talks on EU accession
The Republic of Moldova stands with Ukraine and will continue close cooperation. This message was conveyed by the Head of State, Maia Sandu, who held a meeting today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the event marking the launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Maia Sandu stated that she discussed with the Kyiv leader regional security, international efforts to restore lasting peace in Europe, European integration, and the bilateral agenda, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
“I had a meeting in Nicosia with President Volodymyr Zelensky. We discussed regional security, international efforts to restore lasting peace in Europe, European integration, and our bilateral agenda. Moldova stands with Ukraine, and we will continue to cooperate closely,” Maia Sandu wrote on X.
Following the meeting with Maia Sandu, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also shared a message. According to him, “the joint path of Ukraine and Moldova toward European Union accession must be coordinated.”
“The joint path of Ukraine and Moldova toward EU accession must be coordinated. We are working closely on this matter, and today I discussed it with President Maia Sandu, focusing primarily on the simultaneous opening of the first negotiation clusters,” noted the Kyiv leader.
As reported by CE Report, President Maia Sandu participated on Wednesday, January 7, in the official launch of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event, hosted by the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, brought together European officials, including the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
