European Council President on EU enlargement
EU enlargement is a merit-based process, not a race among candidate countries, European Council President Antonio Costa said after EU–Western Balkans summit held on December 17.
Countries that are making faster progress should not be held back by others, he added, CE Report quotes STA.
In a joint statement, which Serbia did not join, the leaders described enlargement as a realistic prospect.
As reported by CE Report, the European Parliament backed stronger EU defence industry support.
