Olena Zelenska Snubbed by Melania Trump at UN Event

In a quiet wait beside an elevator amid the golden splendor of the Lotte Hotel, Olena Zelenska was snubbed by Melania Trump, whom she had repeatedly asked for a formal meeting during the 24 hours the U.S. First Lady was in New York for the UN General Assembly, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The wife of President Volodymyr Zelensky, Olena had repeatedly sought a face-to-face with Donald Trump’s wife to discuss a cause close to her heart.

But things didn’t go as planned: Melania, according to CNN, left the room immediately after the event without greeting her counterparts, leaving Olena waiting for several minutes in vain beside the elevator.

In fact, before the event at the Lotte, a member of Melania’s staff had already ruled out a formal meeting, speaking only of “courteous greetings” between the two first ladies.

"Mrs. Zelenska contacted Melania multiple times to arrange a meeting, but there is no bilateral meeting," said Marc Beckman, advisor to the U.S. First Lady, to Fox News.

Beckman added:

"There is nothing formal. Since our First Lady is very courteous, she will greet her today, but there is no scheduled sit-down, no substantial conversation, no planned meeting."
