The United States and the European Union have reached a long-awaited trade agreement, ending months of uncertainty, former President Donald Trump announced Sunday after talks with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Scotland, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

Trump called the deal "great for both parties," confirming a 15% tariff rate on EU goods — down from a threatened 30%. “It’s going to bring us closer together... it’s a partnership,” he added.

As part of the agreement, the EU will invest $600 billion in the US and commit to purchasing $750 billion worth of American energy and military equipment. Trump called it the “biggest deal ever made,” noting talks are also underway with several other countries.

Von der Leyen welcomed the outcome, emphasizing its importance for transatlantic business. “It will bring stability and predictability,” she said, describing the deal as a result of "tough negotiations."
