Trump Blames Biden After CBP Officer Shot
Former President Donald Trump on Sunday criticized President Joe Biden after a Dominican national previously released into the U.S. under the Biden administration was accused of shooting an off-duty Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer in Manhattan, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
The suspect, 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, was arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border in April 2023 but later released, despite a criminal history that includes a kidnapping warrant and multiple felony charges, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Nunez allegedly attempted to rob the CBP officer in Riverside Park on Saturday night alongside another suspect. A shootout followed, leaving both the officer and Nunez injured. The officer is expected to recover.
New York Mayor Eric Adams confirmed Nunez had prior arrests and said attempted murder will be added to his charges. DHS has since lodged a detainer against him.
Trump called Nunez an “Illegal Alien Monster” and praised the officer for his bravery, blaming Biden’s immigration policies for the attack.
