Romania Welcomes Trump's Continued Military Support
Romanian Defence Minister Ionut Mosteanu welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to continue supplying Ukraine with modern weaponry, including Patriot missile systems, CE Report quotes AGERPRES
"Ukraine is also fighting for Romania’s borders and European security," Mosteanu stated Monday on X, calling the move a strong signal to the Kremlin. He emphasized that Russia's recent attack on Chernivtsi — home to many ethnic Romanians — proves Moscow is not seeking peace but spreading terror.
Mosteanu also confirmed Romania, under the Bolojan government, will boost its defense budget and continue military reforms.
During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump announced a new joint U.S.-EU agreement to provide weapons to Ukraine. He warned that if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire within 50 days, it would face harsh sanctions.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for Trump’s commitment, calling it vital to protecting Ukrainian lives.
