Politics

Moldova has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, warning that the current military confrontations could seriously impact regional and international security, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) urged all parties to immediately de-escalate and engage in diplomatic dialogue. “We join the calls made by the international community for an immediate de-escalation of tensions,” the ministry stated, calling for restraint and constructive engagement.

Moldovan authorities emphasized that the safety of its citizens in the region remains a top priority and that they are closely monitoring the situation to take necessary protective measures.

Additionally, Moldova reaffirmed its support for international diplomatic efforts to revive negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The tensions flared after Israel, citing intelligence that Iran was nearing nuclear weapon capability, launched a large-scale attack on June 13 targeting over 200 Iranian military and nuclear sites. Iran responded with missile strikes on Israeli military targets, with further exchanges continuing into June 14.
