Germany Urges Russia to Join Peace Talks in Istanbul

"I want to emphasize it once again: Ukraine has made significant moves and is ready to negotiate without preconditions for a truce and a peace agreement — now it's up to Russia. Russia should not leave an empty chair in Istanbul."

This was stated by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Berlin, CE Report quotes ANSA.

"But it must show up, if it is truly interested in peace. There is a clear demand," he added.

Also citing U.S. Secretary Rubio, and warned that if Moscow is not willing to participate, there will be consequences.

There is strong determination regarding the European response.

"Russia must be willing to take a decisive step forward and sit at the table."
