Taylor Swift announces ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ expanded edition

Taylor Swift announced the release of ‘The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore’, an expanded edition of her 12th studio album featuring four new songs, following the record-breaking success of the original album, Reuters reports.

‘The Encore’ will be released on Friday, Swift said in a post on Instagram.

‘The Life of a Showgirl’ was released in October last year and broke several records, with all 12 of its tracks reaching the top 12 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.

Swift said the four new songs were written after ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ achieved the biggest album debut in modern music history based on a combination of record sales and streaming figures.

“At the time, I took a trip to Sweden to celebrate with Max (Martin) and Shellback, my two collaborators on this album,” Swift said in her Instagram post. “I really just wanted us to reflect and enjoy how grateful we were for the moment we were in, but there was a studio there and we did what we always do when we feel something: we wrote more songs.”

The expanded edition will include the single ‘Patient Zero’, which Swift announced on Tuesday, as well as ‘Cleveland!’, ‘Pink Clouding’ and ‘Babylon’.

Martin and Shellback are songwriters and producers who have collaborated with Swift on several of her studio albums.

The first single from ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, recorded 92.5 million official U.S. streams in its first week after release, according to Luminate, the music industry data company.
