Estonia Ready to Send Troops to Ukraine Coalition
Estonia will join the U.S.-led Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative to procure American weapons for Ukraine and is ready to send troops to Ukraine if the Coalition of the Willing approves it, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.
Estonian President Alar Karis, speaking alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels, affirmed Estonia's full support for PURL and its continued military aid for Ukraine, which this year amounts to 0.3% of Estonia’s GDP.
He highlighted growing cooperation between Estonia’s defense industry and Ukraine’s military sector. Karis emphasized the need for a lasting peace in Ukraine, stating that Estonia is prepared to contribute troops to a coalition force to ensure this peace.
While Estonia’s proximity to Russia might seem risky, advances in missile technology reduce the automatic threat level. Karis also stressed the importance of maintaining a U.S. military presence in Europe and plans to discuss this with U.S. military leadership.
