Apple, Google to face stricter mobile regulations in UK

Tech & Science

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has announced that Apple and Google will face stricter regulation over the services offered on their mobile platforms, CE Report quotes ANSA.

The two U.S. tech giants have been officially designated as “strategic market status companies”, a classification that subjects them to tighter oversight and specific rules to ensure fair competition.

“Apple and Google both hold significant and entrenched market power and occupy strategically important positions on their respective mobile platforms,” the CMA stated.
