Bulgarian sabre star reclaims second place in FIE world rankings
Bulgarian Yoana Ilieva climbed back to second place in the International Fencing Federation's world rankings for women's sabre.
The member of the Svechnikov Fencing Club finished 2025 in third place, behind leader Misaki Emura from Japan and runner-up Sarah Noutcha from France, CE Report quotes BTA.
After her strong performance at the Tunis Grand Prix last week and 5th place in the final standings, the Bulgarian has accumulated 186,000 points and is once again hot on the heels of the leader in the rankings, Misaki Emura, who has 205,000 points. Noucha is third in the rankings with 179,000 points.
As reported by CE Report, the next competition for the world's best sabre fencers will be in Salt Lake City (USA) from January 22 to 24.
