Bulgaria secures fourth Olympic spot for 2026 Winter Games
Bulgaria has earned its fourth berth for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy after snowboarder Alexandar Krashniak finished second in the parallel slalom at the FIS World Cup in Bad Gastein, Austria. The result secured him a spot at the Games in Cortina-Milano.
Bulgarian Olympic Committee President-elect Vesela Lecheva congratulated Krashniak on his first World Cup final and on qualifying for the Olympics, CE Report quotes BTA.
“Another berth for Bulgaria at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games! Tonight Alexandar Krashniak finished second in the parallel slalom at the Snowboard World Cup in Bad Gastein. An outstanding achievement and a first podium in the most prestigious competition for another young star of Bulgarian and international snowboarding. Congratulations to our team for demonstrating class just days before the start of Milan-Cortina 2026!” she wrote on Facebook.
As reported by CE Report, prior to Krashniak’s result, Bulgaria had already secured Olympic berths in snowboarding for Radoslav Yankov, Tervel Zamfirov and Malena Zamfirova.
