Albania’s ski star claims World Cup slalom podium
The Italy-born skier Lara Colturi, the first female skier representing Albania, has claimed a podium finish, taking third place in the slalom event at Copper Mountain, Colorado, marking another strong result in her World Cup campaign.
In a post on social media, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports of Albania, Blendi Gonxhja, said Colturi had wrapped up her second race of the World Cup stage “in the best possible way,” CE Report quotes ATA.
“After a strong first run, where she placed fourth, Lara delivered an excellent second run, finishing behind U.S. champion Mikaela Shiffrin and Germany’s Lena Dürr,” Gonxhja said.
He shared footage of the race on social media, adding that the result strengthens Colturi’s position in second place in the overall World Cup standings.
Commenting her performance, Colturi said she was thrilled with the outcome.
“It’s crazy – I can hardly believe it. I’m proud of myself and of all the work we’ve done with the team. We’re progressing together,” she said.
Colturi added that the result reflects her continued dedication and close cooperation with her training team, boosting confidence ahead of the next World Cup events.
