
Romania wins double silver in fours at World Rowing Championships
Romania won silver medals in both the women's and men's four events at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
In the women's four, Ancuta Bodnar, Geanina Juncanariu, Adriana Adam and Amalia Beres took silver with a time of 6 minutes 28.44 seconds, finishing less than a second behind the gold medalists from the US (6:27.71).
New Zealand completed the podium with a time of 6:31.11.
In the men's four event, Stefan Berariu, Sergiu Bejan, Andrei Mandrila and Ciprian Tudosa finished second in the Final A with a time of 5 minutes 50.56 seconds, behind the UK (5:48.48), but ahead of the Netherlands (5:52.01).
The reigning Olympic champions in the men's double sculls, Andrei Cornea and Marian Enache, finished last (sixth) in a very tight Final A, with a time of 6 minutes 20.49 seconds, where the gap from first place was just eight seconds.
In the women's double sculls, Bianca Ifteni and Mariana Dumitru finished sixth in the Final B (7:15.71), ranking 12th overall in the event.
In the men's single sculls, Mihai Chiruta finished fourth in the first semifinal (6:58.77) and will compete in the Final B.
On Thursday, Romania won a gold medal in the women's double sculls (Simona Radis and Magdalena Rusu) and a silver medal in the men's pair (Florin Arteni and Florin Lehaci), bringing the delegation's medal tally to one gold and three silver medals.
On Saturday, the women's 8+1 will start in the Final A, while the mixed crews will compete on Sunday.
Romania is participating with 12 crews at the 2025 World Rowing Championships in Shanghai, China, from September 21 to 28, including in the mixed double sculls and 8+1 events, introduced for the first time in the competition.
